Legal Question in Personal Injury in Iowa

I paid insurance a year in advance and had an accident. Everything was fine but the insurance company did not apply the rest of the policy to my new vehicle and I got into another accident. They refused to pay or give me a refund of my money. The other drivers insurance company would not speak with me, would not show me paperwork showing amount of damages and then sues me 8 months later without serving me. It has been six years since this happened and I just found out I was sued. What can I do? I live in Indiana
