Legal Question in Personal Injury in Iowa

Twelve months ago, my apartment building owner/manager rented an apartment to me which he knew was infested with bed bugs. As a result, I had to throw out everything I owned and am covered head to toe with bite scars. The toll it has taken on my emotional health is indescribeable. I want to ask what type of lawsuit would this be so I know what type of attorney to consult and also what would the statute of limitations be? I live in Iowa. Thank you.

Bed bugs are becoming a consistent problem for landlords and tenants. Iowa has seen its fair share of this problem. Its my impression the bed bug would make the apartment or rental unit unfit for habitation and therefore the landlord and tenant act could provide relief by way of lease termination, damages and also attorney fees in some instances. Iowas Residential Landlord and Tenant Act is a pretty progressive law that protects both landlords and tenants because it provides certain duties each must live up to.

So answer your question you need to talk with an attorney who is familiar with the landlord and tenant act in Iowa. Depending on where in Iowa you live I might have a recommendation for a referral. If you would like send an email and Ill respond. Im also going to add this question and answer to my own website under the FAQ section.
