Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa

bad renter

We have had a verbal rental agrement with renter for 6 years with verbal option to buy. Now he wants us to sign a contract for the price we discusted 6 years ago and wnats to put his past rent payments aas part of the total price so he has a shorter contract. If we don't sign he is sueing to get all his money back.

What can we do?? Eviction??

Re: bad renter

Verbal agreements for the sale of real estate generally are not enforceable. I can't imagine how he could sue to get his money back. There could, perhaps, be an argument there if he was paying more than market rent for the place.
