Legal Question in Workers Comp in Iowa

Claim open, business closing

My question is simple...

I got injured on the job, herniated disk. The business is closing... how does this affect my present and future claims?

It won't affect your workers' compensation claim although I would suggest you make life easy on yourself and whoever ends up representing you by keeping copies of all letters and contact information. You have three years from the date when weekly indemnity payments are last made; it appears they have been; or else you need to file within two years of the date of injury. I have no idea, b/c you didn't say if there was a case manager, (i.e., high priced spy) watching over you shoulder and pestering the doctors to get you back to work. When your healing period ends things could get interesting since the job you were doing at the time of injury no longer exists. Enough said, see a lawyer at some point b/c you will be entitled to additional monies even after they release you to work.
