Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas

last month i decided to leave my boyfriend of 4 years we live together with our child at his sisters house she was renting he workd and paid half the rent while i took are of our son. i had to come home to my mothers and take are of her and had been here less than 2 months. during this time i decided to leave him there had been past physical and drug abuse on his part. i made arrangments to come get my son and my property over a week in advance. i still had a key to the house i show up and my boyfriend isnt there but his sister is and she starts screaming at me telling me i cant be there. she ran away and since i knew she was already told this was happening that i would jus try and hurry things along. i had all my stuff in the basement boxed up by my boyfriend at the time and needed to get my washer and dryer out so i removed the pins out of the door hinges so nothing would be damaged. then the cops come and ask me what i'm doing there i explained everything to them. i was told that since i had not lived there for less than 2 month i no longer lived there they asked me how i got a key i told them that my boyfriends sister gave it to me when i moved in they tried the key and it worked. i was givin a ticket for criminal trespassing and distruction of prop. but was allowed to take my car which was one of the things on my list to get off but that was all. less than ten min. later my ex boyfriend called to tell me to come back and get my stuff. i'd already left town and was on my way back. since then he has contacted me numberous times telling me i can have my stuff but when i try and find out details of when a good time is he never response. i have a protection order against him at the moment and i am just wondering what is going to happen i had no intentions of doing anything criminal when i went up there i jus wanted my son and my things. i have nothing in my record at all and i am trying to figure out i i should be worried if i need to get a legal aid.

You should definatley consult direclty with legal counsle. If these are municiap tickets, they may not qualify for legal aid. You may have get prvate counsel. IF the charges could net you ayear in jail, you may qualify for a public defender.
