Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas

I was working for a bank and I took money from my drawer. I know its illegal and nothing I can do but pay it back. The reason I took the money was to pay someone off to keep a secret is there such thing as emotional blackmail and can it be a not guilty plead. I gave up everything military and school was living in a new city with no place to go. Was driving my girlfriends car to work and living at her place. And someone that had a secret about me threatend to tell her. At the time I felt the only thing I could do was just pay him to be quite because if she found out I would become homeless in a city where I knew no one. What is the best advice?

If you have not already done so, you need to consult direclty with a criminal defense attorney in your area soon.. Many offer a free or low cost initial consultation. They can advise you as to your options, based upon the specifc facts of your situation. Emotional distress is seldom a viable defense, except on television. However, banks do nto like it to be known that they have lost depositor's money. So, they may not oppose the prosecutor agreeing to a plea to a lesser charge.

Good luck
