Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

Information on Divorce

My friend is wanting to divorce his wife of a little over a year. Together they have a house, 11 month old, and two vehicles, one in which was bought during the marriage as well as the house. His wife is unemployed, is not looking, and has BPD, that has caused many issues in the past, but has not seeked help. He has been told that in legal fight for properties, she will more than likely get the house and child, which seems completly unfair to him. He is willing to let her have the child, but he wants the house and does not want her to have it. Therefore, what are his options of increasing his chances of at least getting the house?

Re: Information on Divorce

The ultimate goals of the divorce court in dividing property are to promote fairness to both parties and to act in the best interest of any children. The disposition of a marital residence will depend on many factors, including the source of any equity in the property, the availability of other housing options, the current cost of the housing, among other factors. You should consult an experienced divorce attorney who can assess all relevant factors.
