employer with holding paycheck

I have quit my job due to not getting enough hours. Can my employer keep my final paycheck for a personal loan I recieved to purchase a used auto?

You have not provided enough information to be able to give you a thorough answer. If you work for company A, and your boss is "Bob" and Bob does not own company A, he cannot take your check for payment of a loan, if the loan was made by Bob and not company A. Company A cannot withhod your wages if the laon was made by anyone other than Company A. This may sound confusing. Generally, unless you (or a court) gave permission for a payroll witholding, your employer cannot pay your wages to someone other than you.
