Parental Rights

I want to know how to handle giving up my rights as a parent. What do i need to do?

The first thing is to seek the counsel of wise people as to whether this is even a good goal for you to have and what the consequences are.

Second, voluntarily terminating your rights as a parent comes down to whether it is the best thing for the child. This usually means that there is another person ready to step up to adopt the child, such as a step-parent. It is incredibly unlikely you will be allowed to just give up your rights with no adoptive parent waiting to step in.

Third, if the two things above give you a green light to proceed, you just sign a consent to adopt and waiver of appearance.
