Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

stop raising of child support

I have been paying child support in the amount of $300.00 monthly. This was the amount agreed by both parents. Now that I have a better paying job, she is trying to increase the amount payed to her. She knows she only has 1 year left to collect support, so she is trying to get as much as she can. She recieves $300 monthly now, and wants it raised to $700! Can I stop her from collecting more?

Re: stop raising of child support

In order to modify child support, there are certain legal requirements one must meet. If your ex-wife can meet the requirements of the state statutes, then it is entirely possible child support could be increased by a judge.

If you are concerned about this, I would advise you speak to an attorney before it goes to litigation. It will cost less to consult with someone up front than to hire someone to come in after litigation begins.
