Legal Question in Immigration Law in Kentucky

I am an international student here in the U.S on an F-1 Visa. I am out of status as of right now for not going back to school after a semester.

I would like to know what my chances are if I do return back to school and try to reinstate, I would like to know if there is only a slim chance of me getting reinstated back and if that is the case, my boyfriend and I are thinking about getting married and changing my visa to getting a green card but I would like to know if there is a good chance of that happening even in my situation of being out of status.

Over all, I would like to know what the best thing to do in this situation to getting legal again without leaving the country.

Thanks for your help and advice, I greatly appreciate.

Miss Brown

I suggest that first of all you talk to a DSO at your college. If they will tell you (based on your situation) that reinstatement is possible and they are ready to issue you a new I-20, then you might apply. Secondly, you may want to talk to an immigration lawyer after discussing your options with a DSO.

Yes, if your boyfriend is a US citizen, after marriage, you might be able to apply for adjustment of status to that of a permanent resident.
