i am the administraor of my boyfriends estate,we have a son together and our son has money in an account set up for him from a lawsuit that we won.does this mean that i cannot spend any of this money on any thing but him (example: i need a car and was told i could only spend the money on him because he was the hier of his father)even though we lived together for 9 years and every bill or anything that we had was paid for by both of us.

Re: estate spending

You are not an heir of your boyfriend and as such you are not entitled to any acess to property that he owns except in your capacity as Administratrix in order to settle his estate. You do not say whether or not you are the trustee for your son or not. If the money is set up in a trust for your son, the only expenditures can be for his benefit. If you need a car to provide him transporation for special reasons, then you may be able to ask the appropriate district court to allow that expenditure. They probably will not approve it since you are also a parent and are supposed to furnish necessary items like transportation in your role as parent. If he needed a special vehicle, for example to use a wheelchair in, then the court might approve a partial expenditure with you contributing the balance.
