Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana

Stoped for shoplift in tj max inside store in front of everyone and told i took something and they had it on camera. did not take anything had simply ziped pants was treated rud. was told sorry and given 125.00 gife card. i work at a federal credit union and was very embrassed. still cant go in store without getting sick to stomach and having pantic . the officer at my credit union said that i should file a suite against the store for this and i would like to. do i have grounds for this>i live in louisiana where this took place.

Accusing someone of a crime is defamation per se. You can file a claim for defamation (slander). If you believe your damages are less than $5,000.00, you can file a small claim in the Justice of the Peace court with jurisdiction over the location of the store. You don't need a lawyer to file a small claim.
