Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Louisiana

Good afternoon/night.

I am a Federal employee who filed an EO complaint, last fall, because of none selection for a position. I was the better qualified candidate, the

best. You may say that is what they all say, but in this instance it is true. The agency investigated and found no discrimination and I have appealed. My appeal included charges of retaliation, as right after I filed my complaint, I became the subject of an OIG investigation. The investigation by the IG has been completed, or so I had been told, I have been charged with nothing, And I don't know why I was involved with an IG investigation to begin with. I talked with our personnel labor relations person and she indicated that at this point if nothing was found, there can be no charges.

I made a FOI request to the OIG and received a letter back indicating that the investigation is ongoing and is not complete. So I am not sure what to do. I am not sure what the agency is trying to do. I am one of those employees who may be considered as a trouble maker. Thirteen years ago, I challenged a decision and wrote to my Congressman and since that time have not been promted even though in each instance, for each job, I was the best qualified candidate. I am in need of a good employment lawyer and not sure how to find one. Yes there are lisings, but that doe not indicate the capabilities of the attorney. I say that because I had an EEO complaint in 2004, paid the attorney, and nothing happened. I now realize that he had leukemia and maybe that is why it appears nothing was done. But at this point (EEO, retaliation, IG investigation) I am not sure what to do. How does one go about finding, locating a good effective attorney for issus such as these. I have a 36 year history with this agency.

There is a legal directory at the Louisiana Bar Association internet site. You can also talk to a attorney you know and trust and they should be able to point you to an attorney that specializes or has considerable experience in these sort of cases.
