Re: divorce

Pauper = Poor.......In a divorce action in Louisiana, a "pauper" is a person who is allowed to file their pleadings without putting up court cost at the time of the filing. They must ask to be allowed to file in pauper, and the judge must authorize it. The opposing party may challenge the pauper status. However, someone must pay the costs at the conclusion of the divorce, and even if allowed to proceed as a pauper, the person could eventually be required to pay all costs.
