Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Joint property distribution after break-up without a marriage

I have recently broken up with my boyfriend and need to become sole owner of a vehicle be both purchased. The truck is new and we are both on the financing of the vehicle and its title. I have agreed to take over the entire payments on the vehicle as I use it in my job everyday. He has agreed with me taking over the truck, but we have no idea how to get his name off the title. I am afraid he may come back and say he owns half of it if his name remains on the title. Can you give me some idea how to remove him or how to make me the legal owner? Thanks for having this service in advance.

Contact the finance co. and tell them what you want to do. If they agree, any notary can do the paperwork to transfer his half to you.
