Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

How do I take care of my child?

I would like to make sure my child is cared for in case anything happens to me. There is no father to care for him, so I would like to leave custody to another relative. I do not know what papers I would need, or wether I could just make a will, because he is a person and not property. Would it be better to go to a lawyer, and if so, what type of lawyer?

I sugest you consult an attorney and have a will prepared in which you name the guradian for your child in the event of your death.
