Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

I am 66 years old and have worked for this company for 38 years and am being told that I will retire on November 12, 2011. I have not tendered my resignation but have been told that I will retire. I am the Asst. Vice President and Secretary. I am in excellent health. What are my rights? If forced to retire should I receive severence pay, etc.
