Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

when i quit my last job my employer with-held money from my check for having to drive 4 hours to pick up company issued equipment from my house(which at the time was my office). is this legal?

If they expended monies to recover items you failed to return, it may be allowed. The question should be will it cost you more money to recover your lost wages by filing an action to recover the wages withheld or to defend a suit filed by your former employers to recover costs and equipment
