Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

I work as a contractor (not a public employee) for the USMC.

We've got what we call "access rosters" at many doors in our building.

These "access rosters" contain my first name, middle initial, last name, and last 4 of my SSN.

In my eyes, this is just insane.

Is it legal for an employer to post your full name and last four of you SSN on the wall?

I don't know of any law against it per se, but I agree with you that it certainly is a poor practice. I think administrative intervention is what you need, rather than a lawsuit. Talk to your higher-ups and explain that what they are doing is not very smart. If that doesn't get you anywhere, you could consider suing for invasion of privacy, or on some similar grounds, but the suit would not be close to worth the time and effort it would cost. Try the administrative solution.
