Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

I am from Florida. I fell down the steps of a New orleans hotel based in Florida. Can I sue them in Florida state court even if Louisiana law is applied?

You can sue a defendant wherever the defendant is domiciled, wherever the accident occurred, or wherever any damages were sustained. If the hotel really is domiciled in Florida, you may be able to sue in Florida. However, you should know that it is very common for hotels to be locally owned, even if the hotel chain is domiciled elsewhere. In other words, if you fell at a Marriott, you can't just sue Marriott (national), you must sue the local owner of THAT Marriott.
