Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

if someone in the family was legally adopted 40 years ago and has had no contact with our family at all, why or is this person still considered a legal heir under Louisiana law when a relative dies and his estate goes toward his heirs.

A person given up for adoption, is, under the law, an heir of their adoptive family AND their biological family. That person is equal in every way to all other heirs in their degree.
