Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Obtaining clear title to land

We are the only ''known'' heirs of property in Ada, LA. The title is still registered in the name of the purchaser in the early 1900's. Taxes have been paid continually up to current. How do we go about obtaining a clear title.

Re: Obtaining clear title to land

Your question deals with LA law, and I am a Wisconsin attorney, but I'll try to give you some direction. You indicate title is still in someone who owned the property a long time ago, and I presume is now dead. You would have to probate that person's estate and transfer it to his heirs or under his will. You would continue to do that from his deceased heirs/beneficiaries until it ended up in your name. There may be a number of ways to do that in LA, so I'd suggest you get a good probate lawyer there to walk you through the steps. Good luck!
