Legal Question in Family Law in Maine

its about emancipation plz anwser my questions....

ok well first let me start by saying that for the last 7 moths i have been living with a friends mother, i have been employed since oct. and i will be starting night school soon. well my mother who is my legal gaurdian had moved out of state and my father isnt really in the picture. i was think about emacipation because i was told that if you did it then you would have most of the rights of an adult.( in the sense that i would be able to work more hours and lease an apt.) i would liek to know if thats true. also i would like to know who i would go about getting ym mother to court if she's out of state, like 3000 miles away. so i doubt she'd comje here for that. also i would like to know would i go about this hole process. i think that if my mother left me in this adult type situation of caring for myself then i should go about it in the adult type way. i would really appreicate a response from you. thanks for taking the time to read this. ahve a wonderful day....samantha

Samantha:

Unfortunately my office does not assist clients with emancipation issues. However, you should consider contacting Pine Tree Legal at 774-8211, the Cumberland Legal Aid clinic at 780-4370, or VLP at 774-4348. I am not sure if any of these legal programs will specifically address emancipation, but they may if you explain your situation.
