Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maine

right to live at property

My brother and I as joint tenants own my mothers home. She has living rights. I currently live in the home with my mom as she has health issues. Can my brother force me to leave? He threatens every time we disagree. I need to know my rights and if I should take any action at this time. My brother also holds power of attorney.

Re: right to live at property

It is highly unlikely you could be forced to leave the premises if you are on the deed. You have just as much a right to be there are he would. The main issue would be if there was a claim of violence, abuse, etc and you were ordered to leave on account of a protective Order.
