rental agent's commssion

for a vacation-home rental, an agent based her commission on ALL monies received. It doesn't seem right that we pay commission on the security deposit and cleaning fee.

Presumably there is a written agreement with the agent that sets forth their services to be rendered and how the comission is figured. Basing it on gross income including the cleaning fee is not inherently right or wrong, but it also may not be permitted by a careful review of the contract.
