Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland

Public sale clasified ad guidelines

Does a classified ad for a boat that is being held under a Mechanics Lien (title 16 of commercial law)be required to be placed in the legal section of the classified ads or is it ok to be placed under notices. The guidelines given to me by the Maryland Dept. of Natural Resources states quote: lienor may sell vessel at public sale. Lienor must publish notice once a week for two weeks preceding day of sale in one or more papers of general circulation in the county where the sale is to be held. no mention of what classified section it has to be placed under.

could you please give me some input regarding this matter

Thank You

Re: Public sale clasified ad guidelines

There is no specific requirement that your public sale notice be placed in a particular section of a newspaper. The only requirement is that it be in a newspaper of general circulation in the area where the debtor is located, so that it can be assumed that it gave interested persons, including the debtor, reasonable notice of the sale.
