Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Maryland

Finance Car Companies

I was told that I was preapproved to get a vehicle. I returned their call as they asked and even asked them, do I need any money at all to be able to get a vehicle. They kept saying no, I was preapproved. I then went to the dealership they told me to go and I get there and they want money down, I told them I was told I didn't need any I was preapproved, then I was asked to pay for taxes and tags on the vehicle and I said, I was told I needed NO MONEY and I was PRE APPROVED. At any rate I also told them what I could afford per month, etc and they told me that was ok and they could do it, I also told them what vehicle I wanted, and they again said, they could do it that I was PREAPPROVED. At any rate, I was very embaressed and burst into tears when leaving their office since everything they told me on the phone was a lie just to get me in their. They are a fraudulent company to get you in there and then change EVERYTHING they said on the phone. I still have the message on my phone and have listened to it over and over and it states, I was PRE-APPROVED for a vehicle. I had my self esteem shot down after my hopes were brought up that I would have a vehicle for my kids for doc appts, etc.

Re: Finance Car Companies

They may have mislead you, but it seems you may have a hard time proving damages, since you did not by a car. If the solicitation was a prerecorded voice call, that would be a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which provides for damages of $500 to $1,500 per violation.
