Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

summons

I have been called by a process server(?) to say that I am being served a summons. Do i have to respond...what does this mean

It means that you are being sued. If you don't respond, a default judgment can be entered against you, and, if it is a money judgment, the creditor can garnish wages, attach bank accounts and otherwise try to collect the debt.
