Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Child support in Maryland

my husbands 2 daughters from his first marriage are 18 & 19. One is out of school and working full time, the other graduates in a few days. What do we do to have the child support payments stopped? Whose responibility is it to inform child services that the kids are now 18 and over and he has fullfilled his child support obligations? He has now paid over $3000.00 in child support for the 19 yr old past what he should have. Thank you

Re: Child support in Maryland

Your husband should contact child services and find out what they need to close the account. They may require a letter and documentation of the info about the children. If they won't cooperate, he may have to file a court petition to terminate support.
