Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Entry of dismissal

I have a divorce in proceeding, and I have checked back on many occasions to see the status of it. The current status says ''Motion to Defer entry of dismissal'' what does that mean?

Re: Entry of dismissal

First of all, why don't you read your copy of the motion? If this motion was filed by the other party, it should have been served on you or your lawyer if you have one, in which case your lawyer can answer the question. More likely, your lawyer filed the motion, he/she could explain this to you. What probably has happened is that the court is proposing to dismiss the case, probably because your spouse hasn't been served with the complaint under the rules. Your lawyer is asking for more time to accomplish service, so is requesting that the proposed dismissal be delayed for this purpose.
