help

i currently share a lease with my ex-boyfriend i was focrced to move out of our apartment when he hit me the police were called in for domestic dispute..do i still have to pay my half of the rent?

Under no circumstance will you be required to live in an abusive situation. Although you may be liable for the lease consider your situation. If a suit is brought for collection by the landlord then you may need an attorney to represent your position against the person remaining in possession of the premises. You should notify the landlord of the matter that led to your leaving as this may become relevant to any future legal process.

You are legally obligated to the landlord to pay whatever rent is due, as is your ex. If the rent isn't paid, he will evict your boyfriend, and would have the right to sue both of you for back rent. If I were you, I'd wait to see if the ex wants to stay there badly enough to pay the entire rent, or if he finds someone else to share the apartment, and then reevaluate my options later.
