child and car

someones child hit my car with a shopping cart and put a dent in it. is the parent responseable for the damages? do i have the right to get the car fixed at a repair shop of my chose? and if the repairs take a few days is the parent also responsible for paying for the rental car?

Re: child and car

Generally, in MD, a parent is not liable for the negligence of a child. If the child acted as the agent of the parent, or if the parent negligently supervised the child, you may have a claim.
