Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

comments at restaurant/club

If a person made a comment at a restaurant that they had bad food there before. Can the restaurant/club send them a letter requesting them to appear before the house committee. The person only said the chicken she ate was bad and she got sick off it.

Re: comments at restaurant/club

You didn't clarify the nature of the facility, but I gather that it was a private dining room at a country club or something similar. If so, you need to refer to the club's bylaws to determine if this procedure is authorized. You should certainly have the right to comment on your personal experience without being penalized, but private clubs can set their own rules regarding behavior that wouldn't be the same if it were a regular restaurant.
