Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Sue for miscarriage?

I was 9 weeks pregnant and was under a lot of stress with my boyfriend and his divorce proceedings with his estranged. I have a list of things that she has done to both of us. She has mentioned in an email that she loves to give people a hard time. I believe that because of her behavior, attitude, and all other actions toward me and my bofriend, I lost my baby. Can I sue her for this? What actions or rights do I have regarding this?

Re: Sue for miscarriage?

It's sad that you lost your baby, but it is also extremely unlikely that you could ever convince a court or jury that your boyfriend's estranged wife is responsible. You would have to have medical evidence to support it, and it's doubtful any doctor would be willing to so testify. Also, you would have to prove that it was foreseeable that the rancor between your boyfriend and his ex over the divorce would likely effect your pregnancy. I doubt you'll find an attorney willing to undertake this case.
