Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Wrong Judgement

My son was in an at fault car accident. He gave his insurance, and license. Our license numbers are one number off and the judgment was put on my license. My name is not on the car nor do we share car insurance. How is it that I am held responsible? Now the MVA will not let me renew my license but I didn't have anything to do with this case. What can I do?

Re: Wrong Judgement

You should be able to take the police report from the accident if one was prepared and take a copy of it to MVA to show that your vehicle wasn't involved. Check with them to see if this will clear the matter up, or what else you need--such as an affidavit from your son, a letter from his insurance company that they handled the claim, etc.
