Legal Question in Immigration Law in Maryland

looking for a attornye for my green card

hi

i have the Green Card filed with my employer last year and my i-140 is in process...this is under eb2 category

and am from india....on h1b visa........my employer is based in california........at then time when i filed my GC last year, my employer was a small IT consulting company with 20 employees..

now, given the current economic situtaion, there seems a possibility that my employer might go out of business or might file bankruptcy....as they are losing lot of employees..

in that case, is there any way for me to port my GC process to a new employer and still retain my old

priroit date...if i change employer....

if you think there is a way, and if your firm specializes in it, please let me know....

please suggest

If you found a new employer who would be willing to continue your sponsorship for lawful permanent residency, it might be possible (to retain your old priority date), but you would be well advised to consult with your local district (USCIS) office on this issue in order to make sure.
