Legal Question in Immigration Law in Maryland

My boyfriend is not a citizen (from Mexico) he has a valid social security card, temporary status and pays taxes. We want to marry but I am affraid because I make more money then him that he wouldn't be able to get his passport.

Before he qualifies for citizenship he'll need a green card. You as his sponsor (assuming you are a US citizen) will need to provide an affidavit of support (you both will submit them actually) and you will need to show that your household makes 125% above the poverty line. Therefore it doesn't matter who makes more money only that as a household you make enough.

A lot hinges on how your boyfriend entered the US. If he entered legally then he can get a green card by marrying you regardless of who makes more money. If he entered illegally ("jumped the border") then his options are extremely limited and would take a lot more analysis to determine.
