Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

I work for a bank as ATM technical support. Beginning tomorrow morning, my state is calling for a blizzard that will last for approximately two days. I'm being told by my manager that I am now considered essential personnel and must report to work. I explained that I have a dog and no one to care for him if I am trapped at work until the roads are clear. They are not even offering 4x4 support to and from work, such as is used by hospitals. My manager's response was that I am to bring my dog to work and lock him in a crate for my 10 hr. shift and stay in a local hotel for two nights. To me this sounds like a potential HR nightmare. Is this even legal?

It is legal. However, this may create liability on the company's part should you have an accident.
