Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

I understand the PIP money received from an accident goes to the injured party to pay the hospital bill. In my case, the lawyer took the money and never consulted with me on how much it was. He took the money and paid some meical bills. Was this wrong?

If you and the lawyer signed a paper called an "Assignment and Authorization" with any of your doctors, that was an agreement that any insurance funds received in this case would be applied to those bills. Otherwise your lawyer should have consulted you before using any of the PIP proceeds for this, although that is what they were designed for.
