Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Landlord & Tenant Court Judgements (Future Rent)

Because the rent has previously been late the landlord is requesting the future rent at the upcoming hearing. If you have paid the current month and you don't have the future rent until maybe 3 days after the hearing will you be evicted or will a judgement be entered for immediate eviction? How much time is given before eviction?

Re: Landlord & Tenant Court Judgements (Future Rent)

Your question wasn't entirely clear, but I'll do my best to answer it. Rent is usually due on a monthly basis, at the beginning of the month to which it applies. If you've paid your July rent, you're in compliance with your rent obligation and the landlord cannot demand rent in advance unless you have a very unusual lease provision that entitles him to do so. I'm assuming you don't. Likewise, he can't have you evicted if your rent is current, although if you are on a month to month tenancy, he can give you 30 days' notice and end your leasehold that way.
