Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Fleeing and Eluding Charge Without Arrest or Stop

I was recently charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, illegal u-turn, driving without headlights at night, and speeding at 112 mph on a main highway. The thing is, I wasn't driving the vehicle; rather I found my car the next day parked outside my building with the tags removed and a note that said I would need to schedule an appointment to get them back. When I contacted the officer I told to write a police report, which I did (and I can corroborate all the statements made therein with evidence). I was then asked to bring the police report to the station, which I did. The officer tried to intimidate me, interrogate me, threatened my career and told me I would be investigated. I was then issued 4/5 citations for the infractions listed above ( one of the charges carries potential jail-time if prosecuted.) They were attempting to get a ''confession'' but I maintained that I was not the driver of the vehicle; because I wasn't. The person who did this was an old friend that I let stay at my condo the night before because he claimed he had nowhere to stay. I'm an upstanding citizen and extremely afraid of the consequences of this pretty severe misunderstanding; Any help that you can provide would be incredibly appreciated

Get an attorney to go to court with you! Even if you are telling the truth, this case is prosecuted just like a criminal case, and you need to know the rules of evidence, statutes, etc. to make sure to put on a winning defense. I am available Mon-Sat to meet in the Rockville and Bethesda area if you would like to discuss more details.
