Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

OAS, Exp Reg, Uninsured = Jail?

I was given 3 tickets: Operating after suspension, expired registration and driving an uninsured vehicle. If I get all of these things taken care of before court, could I face jail? I was completely unaware of the suspended license. What are my options?

Yes, you can go to jail on operating a motor verhicle after suspension. It depends on the judge and prosecutor. You should immediately consult with a criminal lawyer.

You can be facing a maximum of 1 year in jail on your charge of operating a motor vehicle after your license has been suspended. If you have never been convicted of that charge before, in most counties first-time defendants do not get jail time. But, it is possible and has happened before.

I would recommend that you at least speak to an experienced attorney such as myself before deciding to proceed by yourself without a lawyer.
