Legal Question in Technology Law in Massachusetts

Internet relationship guidelines

I've been in a lovely relationship for one year, mostly via pc. My partner lives in the UK, and is 40, I am now 17. My guardians have been made aware of the situation, and had our pc hardrive scanned...they found provacative emails sent before I had turned 17. They have threatened to use legal action against my partner if I do not comply with their personal demands until I turn 18. Is this a viable threat, what grounds do they have to stand on? And if not, what would they need in order to have a case?

Thanks.

Re: Internet relationship guidelines

This would be governed by UK law since your beau is there. Have him contact an attorney to find out the risks, if any, of prosecution. I would not suggest you or him contacting a prosecutor until you and he have taken whatever steps are in order, as that might trigger what you are trying to avoid. I doubt the UK would prosecute him, so your parents' threats are probably hollow ones, but you need to make him aware of the threats.
