I currently have an assault charge on my record that got dismissed. Is there a way to get it off my record?

Depending on when the charge occured you could have the record sealed. Sealing of the record will not remove the charge but would not allow employers to view it. My office has handled several sealings-774-745-0562.

I agree with Ernie. On a dismissal sealing should be very easy.

You cannot remove or "expunge" charges in MA. However you can have your record sealed which allows you to truthfully and legally report that you have no criminal record in MA. It is also how a CORI check will come back for a MA employer, unless it is a law enforcement agency or a couple of other limited exceptions. This is what you need if you are concerned about your career or seeking or keeping you job. Hire a lawyer local to the court where you were charged, they will have the best chance of knowing the proper procedure for that court and have the appropriate relationships with that court. If it is in Central MA call me at (508) 752-7500. Good luck.
