Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Hi, I witnessed a minor crime in another state (someone driving a motor vehicle with a suspended license) They were arrested at the scene. I signed a statement stating what I saw. Now I got a call from an inspector telling me he wants me to drive to that state to sign a summons to appear in court. Now if a judge ordered a summons for me to go to court, I will be there. My question is do I have to go to the other state to sign the summons or does the prosecutor have to send someone to me? I left them a message saying I would not be in the area and they would have to send someone to me if they want it signed. I live in Massachusetts and the police dept is in Rhode Island. Thanks

The simple answer is the request is a plea. Compliance with a plea is your choice. The prosecutor could have, maybe, sent you the document for your signature.
