Legal Question in Education Law in Massachusetts

I need official copies of my college transcripts, but they won't release them

I need copies of my official college transcripts, for work purposes. I am in arrears on my perkins loans, and for that reason, my college will not release the information to me. It's a 'catch 22' situation, as I am an educator, trying to get work in the public schools. Without the transcripts, i can't get the work I need, in order to pay back the loans. (Besides which, my loans may be forgiven as a result of forgiveness programs for teachers). I need a way to get my transcripts within the next week, or I won't be able to support myself financially, much less pay the loans off.

I have no means at this time of making payments on my loans, nor do I have money for legal advice or representation. Got any suggestions? Thank you.

You may want to call Massachusetts Bar Association Lawyers Referral, Boston Bar Association, etc. and find out if you qualify for a lawyer pro bono or lowered fee services based on your income. Hopefully, you can get some answers within a week, but your cutting it close. Good luck! Sincerely, Maria Murber
