Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I am an 18 year old college student in Massachusetts. I thought that after my 18th birthday, any and all parental custody would end. However, I am now being told that because I am in college this does not apply to me. Is there something that I can do, to stop parental custody, or make child support payments come directly to me instead of my mother?

Technically, parental custody is over. However, you can still be supported by your parents.

As far as making child support go directly to you? It does not happen and it is wishful thinking.

Moreover, it is odd that you want to stop parental custody, but you want to mandate financial support. Do you not think this is a contradiction?
