Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Child Custody

could you please direct me where to look for the actual law on child custody? I currently have custody of my son as i wasn't married or living with his father. i had to deny his father a visitation because he was inebriated. he says this is illegal. There is no court decree as of yet as I'm trying to avoid court. also i was told that if he refused to pay child support than i don't have an obligation to drop my son of for visitation. is that correct? thank you

Re: Child Custody & visits & support etc

You can go to the local county law library.

You are not required to send your child for a visit if the person is drunk.

If you do not file and pursue a court action, then everything is informal. Moreover, there are risks involved.

If there is a court order for support, and the paying spouse does not pay, you are still required to have your son available for visits.

You can contact me at my office for a complimentary consultation if you have any further questions, or need assistance.
