Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

Massachusetts - Guardian Ad Litem

I'm in the middle of a custody dispute with regard to my 14 year old son. Is it possible/sensible to request the Judge to appoint a GAL or is it simply their purview to do so fi they feel it is warranted? How does one go about requesting such in Massachusetts Probate and Family Court?

Thank you.

This is not unusual.

Getting a GAL appointed is a double edged sword. Make sure that this is really what will solve a problem. If the other side consents, then there is no problem.

There is still the issue of who is going to pay for the GAL's services.
